David Grand, Brainspotting Developer, Joins The Calo Programs Distinguished Council
(PRWEB) May 31, 2017 -- David Grand, PhD is the creator of Brainspotting, and is a licensed clinical social worker with a private psychotherapy practice in Manhattan, New York. His clients include survivors of traumas such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Sandy Hook, and active combat, as well as professional performers, athletes, and business leaders. Committed to the use of Brainspotting as a tool to ease human suffering, Dr. Grand has become widely known for his humanitarian contributions. He is the author of several books including Brainspotting: The Revolutionary New Therapy for Rapid and Effective Change. His media appearances include CNN, PBS, and NBC, with features in The New York Times, Washington Post, O Magazine and Newsday.
David Grand shared, “I am honored and heartened by Calo Programs’ embrace of Brainspotting. The integration of Calo Programs and Brainspotting is a truly synergistic integration of two wonderful models."
The Calo Programs Distinguished Council is comprised of nationally recognized doctors, renowned speakers, bestselling authors, thoughtful researchers and highly sought after professionals for their expertise in the areas of trauma, attachment and adoption. Formal relationships with these professionals ensures Calo Programs remains on the cutting edge of practice, research and science when it comes to healing the effects of early childhood trauma. Alex Stavros, Calo Programs CEO, elaborates, “This Council is a significant investment in better treatment and outcomes; and further reinforces our position as a leader in treating early trauma amongst young people. Our expertise with trauma, attachment and adoption is at the highest level.”
Brainspotting (BSP) was discovered in 2003 by David Grand. BSP makes use of relevant eye positions to locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions. BSP is also a brain-based tool to support the therapy relationship. When a Brainspot is stimulated, the deep brain appears to reflexively signal the therapist that the source of the problem has been found. BSP can also be used to find and strengthen our resilience.
“We are honored to have Dr. Grand’s involvement with The Council. His groundbreaking work with Brainspotting is transforming the way we see and understand trauma and the body. I believe we are just scratching the surface when it comes to the opportunity and potential of this treatment. For that reason, our organization has made a deep commitment to Brainspotting and Dr. Grand’s work.” shared Alex Stavros.
Calo Programs first started implementing Brainspotting more than eight years ago. Now over 10,000 therapists have been trained in BSP around the world. And all Calo Programs clinicians, at every program, are trained in Brainspotting by Steve Sawyer, LCSW, Founder of New Vision Wilderness and Clinical Trainer at Calo Programs. Steve is one of ten Leading Brainspotting Trainers in the United States. Steve shared, “David is a true master clinician and a wonderful friend. We are both committed to transforming psychotherapy. He is one of the leading pioneers of the therapeutic evolution toward neurobiological psychotherapy. David’s Brainspotting model has had an immense impact and changed how Calo Programs views psychotherapy. Our programs are now at the forefront of this self-healing treatment. There is no other organization that has incorporated Brainspotting into treatment to the extent Calo Programs has.”
Dr. Norman Doidge MD, FRCPC, author of The Brain That Changes Itself said this: "David Grand is one of the most important and effective psychological trauma therapists now practicing, and his development of Brainspotting is a very important leap forward in helping people resolve trauma.” Learn more from this Source: https://brainspotting.pro/
