ADLINK Joins Telecom Infra Project to Accelerate Edge Computing
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) June 08, 2017 -- ADLINK Technology, Inc., a global provider of leading edge computing solutions that drive data-to-decision applications across industries, has joined the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) and will actively participate in the Edge Computing Working Group focused on facilitating innovations in telecommunication architecture.
Founded in 2016, TIP is an engineering-focused initiative that is bringing operators, infrastructure providers, system integrators, and other technology companies together to collaborate on the development of new technologies and reimagine traditional approaches to building and deploying telecom network infrastructure.
“We are very excited to be part of TIP, with the goal of cross-pollination between the various telecom infrastructure efforts taking place today,” said Yong Luo, General Manager of ADLINK’s Networking, Communication and Public Business Unit. “For instance, Open Compute Project – or OCP – recently approved an OpenSled specification based on ADLINK’s Open Compute Carrier-grade Edge Reference Architecture (OCCERA) to build on the existing CG-OpenRack-19 specification. Together with other TIP member organizations, ADLINK can offer our experience to TIP projects to help ensure consistency and the application of best practices across standards-building efforts.”
ADLINK’s focus on edge computing is a natural evolution from embedded systems to connected embedded computing that facilitates data acquisition and analysis to improve business operations. ADLINK is actively involved in several networking and communications standards organizations, including Open Compute Project (OCP), OpenFog Consortium, Network Intelligence (NI) Alliance, European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), OpenNFV, OpenEdge Computing, Edge Computing Consortium and Central Office Re-architected as a Datacenter (CORD). In addition, ADLINK is a part of the Wind River Titanium Cloud Partner Ecosystem, a program dedicated to accelerating the deployment of solutions for NFV, and provides Wind River’s Titanium Server software as an integrated solution on ADLINK’s OCCERA platforms and SETO-1000 extreme outdoor server. The integrated solution targets network function virtualization (NFV), software defined networking (SDN), mobile edge computing (MEC) and IIoT deployments.
Over the past several years, ADLINK has moved toward developing networking and communications platforms that enable the current requirements for edge computing and cloud architectures. ADLINK will continue to apply its two decades-plus experience in embedded and IIoT solutions to new proofs-of-concept that meet the global data challenge.
