Grand Rapids, Minn., to Host 2017 Bassmaster Classic Bracket Tournament
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (PRWEB) September 12, 2017 -- As one of the top fishing locations in the United States, Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids, Minn., will be home to this year’s Bassmaster Classic Bracket tournament. The event runs Sept. 19-22 and will be an on-the-water showdown between eight of the leading bass anglers in the nation.
The tournament, now in its second year, is a marquee event within the Bassmaster Elite Series, which includes several of the top pro-circuit tournaments. Eight leading anglers from pro events during the 2017 season will participate in the Bassmaster Classic on Pokegama, competing for the top share of a $50,000 total purse and the final open slot in the world championship of bass fishing – the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic in Greenville, South Carolina.
Each of the eight competitors will have a B.A.S.S. official on board with them to do immediate weigh-ins of fish they catch, as opposed to a daily weigh-in at the end of each day. Each angler will have a five-bass limit for each day of competition.
Strictly a catch-weigh-and-release event, the bracket-based elimination tournament will include all eight competitors for the first two days. Four will be eliminated for semi finals on day-three. The final day will feature the top two competitors battling for top prize on Pokegama Lake September 22.
“Pokegama Lake is an ideal location for the Bassmaster Classic Bracket, as it is one of the best bass fishing lakes in the region,” noted Megan Christianson, executive director for Visit Grand Rapids. “As one of the largest of our county’s 1,007 lakes in total, Pokegama provides excellent access, hospitality and amenities for tournament fans as well as amazing bass fishing to make for an exciting tournament. The Bassmaster Classic Bracket is a signal to all anglers in the region – pro and amateur – that the Grand Rapids area is THE place to go for exceptional fishing.”
The event comes on the heels of the Bassmaster Angler of the Year tournament on Mille Lacs Lake. Fans can watch the entire tournament live-streamed at http://www.bassmaster.com. As one of the final major tournaments on the 2017 calendar, the Bassmaster Classic Bracket sets the stage for what is sure to be an exciting 2018 world championship.
