New Henrico County Park with Greenplay® Organic Infill Expected to Attract Athletes From Across the Country
Henrico County, VA (PRWEB) October 03, 2017 -- Greenwood Park, scheduled for completion in February, will feature a new 10 acre Greenplay® CorkonutTM organic infill artificial turf sports field complex with four full size fields designed to blend with the beauty of the natural environment, positioned at the center of the pristine 88 acre park.
“This is our biggest land development project in the 15 years I’ve been here,” exclaims project manager Steve Hart.
“Soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, football, you name it, if it’s a field sport you can play it out here,” explains Neil Luther, the county’s Director of Henrico Recreation & Parks.
The decision to utilize the natural, plant-based organic infill was made early on in the design process to keep the facility as natural as possible and avoid the many questions that have arisen over the use of traditional crumb tire rubber infill. This heightened awareness for health and safety is convincing many facilities across the country to take a hard look at Greenplay® with many communities passing resolutions to utilize only plant-based organic infill for all future turf fields, such as that passed in 2015 by Montgomery County in neighboring Maryland.
