Golf Academy of America and Veteran Golfers Association (VGA) are pleased to invite members of the media to attend the 2017 VGA National Championship. In this invitation-only event, taking place Sunday, Oct. 8 through Wednesday, Oct. 11, winners of each of the VGA regional tournaments will compete for a series of coveted prizes.
The participants in the 2017 VGA Championship, which is held at a Top 40 golf course, include 83 veterans, 17 purple hearts and 6 amputees. As part of the award for placing in the regional tournament, each of the golfers’ lodging, meals and golf play is covered entirely - around a $3,000 value.

All flight winners from the National Championship are invited to Augusta to experience a Masters practice round. Both the male and female national champion will receive a red jacket tailored just for them by the same tailor that makes the famous Masters green jackets. In addition, they will receive a special invitation to speak on the Golf Channel’s Morning Drive, and a private jet ride to play a special round at Pine Valley Golf Club, one of the top-ranked golf courses in the world.
Highlights from the tournament schedule include musical performances by country music star Rob West and country duo McKenzies Mill, the VGA Dinner Gala, during which Golf Academy of America at Myrtle Beach Campus Director Gene Augustine will speak, and the presentation of the 2017 VGA Patriot Award.
