Louisiana Math Students to Help Donate Thousands to Hurricane Irma Relief
Provo, UT (PRWEB) October 10, 2017 -- Imagine Learning, developer of the award-winning Imagine Math digital curriculum, will host a special donation ceremony for American Red Cross Hurricane Irma Relief at 8:30 a.m. on October 12th at Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy in Youngsville, LA.
This event represents the culmination of a nationwide campaign for Imagine Math students who chose to convert their accrued math points to dollars for Hurricane Irma relief. After donating the most math points of any participating school nationwide, students at Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy will act in behalf of all participants by presenting a check for $5,000 to a representative from the Red Cross.
Acadiana students who participated in the Imagine Math challenge donated a whopping 312,000 math points out of the 535,000 points earned nationally. To earn those points, students completed 475 math lessons and solved 14,397 complex math problems in only four short days in mid-September.
“Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy students have shown their capabilities and their compassion by working hard on their math and always opening their hearts to those in need,” said Principal Christine Stoudt. “We are so proud of those students who have participated in this endeavor to help the communities affected by Hurricane Irma.”
“This Thursday we’ll see just a few of the faces that go along with all those donated math points,” said Lisa Wise, manager of motivation for Imagine Learning. “Our students continue to amaze us when it comes to doing more math so they can donate to those in need. This event is just one way to honor the efforts of Imagine Math students while also honoring those who will receive these critical funds.”
The Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy is a tuition-free public charter school for students in grade K–8. As a part of Charter Schools USA, Acadiana is dedicated to putting students first. Likewise, school leaders are pleased to join forces with other schools on behalf of those impacted by Hurricane Irma.
