AFP Westchester Hosts Nonprofit Thought Leaders at National Philanthropy Day Conference
WESTCHESTER, N.Y. (PRWEB) November 01, 2017 -- The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Westchester Chapter will be holding its sixth National Philanthropy Day (NPD) conference on Tuesday, November 14th at the Doubletree by Hilton in Tarrytown. Internationally known fundraising experts Tom Ahern, Simone P. Joyaux, AFRE, and Dr. Adrian Sargeant will lead six workshops and three plenary sessions on growing philanthropy.
It is anticipated that the event will draw 200 high level fundraising professionals from the Hudson Valley region.
“NPD is a day for nonprofit professionals, board members, CEOs and volunteers to recharge their batteries, and learn about the latest trends and research in philanthropy,” said Pat Brigham, AFP Westchester president. “We’re absolutely thrilled about the caliber of speakers we have lined up for this conference. This is an opportunity for fundraisers to learn from the very best in the field.”
Tom Ahern, one of the world's top authorities on donor communications delivers dozens of workshops around the world every year speaking about the techniques of, and psychology behind, effective fundraising communication. His own communications packages get extraordinary results and have become models in the fundraising field. Ahern, who has authored four books on donor communications has just published a new book, ”What Your Donors Want...and Why” which explores why donors respond to fundraising appeals.
Simone P. Joyaux, ACFRE, is an expert on building better boards, fundraising and strategic planning and has recently began her 30th year as a consultant to nonprofits. She describes herself as “a change agent, an agitator” and others have labelled her as inspirational and provocative. Joyaux speaks worldwide and has written three books including her latest, “Firing Lousy Board Members.”
Dr. Adrian Sargeant is considered to be the world's foremost fundraising academic and is a leading authority on how to achieve growth in philanthropy. He is an award-winning author, motivational speaker and educator who has published ten books and 150 peer reviewed academic publications about individual giving, fundraising and nonprofit marketing.
“Our presenters are the rock stars of philanthropy,” said Lauren Candela-Katz, NPD Chairperson. “By showcasing the research, ideas and best practices of some of the greatest thought-leaders in our industry we hope that this conference will help nonprofit professionals and volunteers take fundraising to a new level.”
Candela-Katz explained that NPD workshops have been set up to provide three distinct tracks for development professionals, Executive Directors/CEOs and board members. Topics will include What Does It Take to Double, Triple or Quadruple Your Income, Building Donor Loyalty, and What CEOs Need to Know About Fundraising.
Three additional plenary sessions will address topics like the cost of growing philanthropy that are foundational for every professional, CEO and board member to hear.
“This unique format enables participants to customize their day to maximize their educational experience,” said Candela-Katz. “There really is something for everyone- from those with years of fundraising experience to volunteers and individuals thinking of making a career switch into the nonprofit industry.”
