Water Street Partners: Neeraj Nandurdikar to Drive Discussion on Leading Complex Projects - The Human Side of Project Management
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) November 13, 2017 -- On Tuesday, November 21st, Neeraj Nandurdikar, Director of the Exploration and Production Group at Independent Projects Analysis (IPA) will sit down with Water Street Partners to explore the links between personality, experience and effective complex project leadership and the role non-op ventures can play in this leadership development.
Neeraj will share his perspectives on the challenges of managing complex projects. As projects become more complex, the project manager role shifts from that of a manager to that of a leader. The skill sets and personality traits of managers and leaders are different, and we believe this mismatch of requirements contributes substantially to the poor track record of complex projects, particularly in the E&P sector. These projects are complex for a number of reasons, including the presence of non-operating partners. Most operators view non-operating partners as a “nuisance” and non-op representatives on projects often aren’t the best fit. We believe this approach is terribly short-sighted and risks missing a major opportunity to shape the success of complex projects.
This discussion will explore the links between personality, experience and effective complex project leadership and the role non-op ventures can play in this leadership development.
Neeraj will offer perspectives and insights drawn from research conducted by IPA using its global database of 20,000+ capital projects, 600 of which are the largest and most complex projects in the world. Neeraj will also provide insights and anecdotes from interviews with seven of the most successful (empirically proven) complex leaders that are profiled in an upcoming IPA book Leading Complex Projects: A Data-Driven Approach to Mastering Human Side of Project Management.
Neeraj is currently Director of IPA’s Oil & Gas Practice, managing the business globally. In this role, Neeraj provides strategic direction to the business area and oversees the global E&P; business including customer relations, intellectual property development, research development, and project evaluation services. Neeraj has spent the past 15 years providing strategic advice to EVP’s, VP’s , Heads of Projects, and Functional leaders of more than 30 different oil and gas operators around the world ranging in topics from reservoir and well construction best practices, to portfolio optimization, to organizational design and work process improvement to optimizing production performance.
