Photographer Panas Wiwatpanachat, owner of Panas Photography, is teaming up with Step Up on Second in Santa Monica, which delivers compassionate support to people experiencing serious mental illness, for Giving Tuesday. A global giving movement, Giving Tuesday takes place on November 28 on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

“Giving back to community is an important part of our mission. Whenever we have a chance, we will lend our talent and specialty to those who need them,” said Panas.

For Giving Tuesday, Step Up on Second will be utilizing its social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as its website and text messaging to promote its ending homelessness campaign. Panas will be taking photos and video of board members, donors, staff and members (those who Step Up serves) holding a large key.

“Our message is ‘You are the key to ending homelessness.’ We are hoping to raise both awareness and donations in our efforts to end homelessness for 1,000 individuals living on the streets of Southern California over the next two years,” said Diedre A. Strohm, Vice President of Step Up on Second.

Step Up is a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization founded in 1984. Its three pillars of service are permanent supportive housing, vocational training and placement, and member-driven supportive services. It is a contracted mental health provider and operates in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in California, and is starting operations in Seminole County, Florida. This year, Step Up is also participating in Big GIVE San Bernardino through the Community Foundation.
