Centralizing a monitoring system on a single enterprise solution across multiple sites provides several benefits; primarily cost-savings and risk-mitigation. On the cost savings side, only one server (or set of servers) is required, with fewer licenses. Because only one server is deployed and validated, implementation and administration costs are reduced. But there can be downsides to enterprise-level systems and there will be tradeoffs in every system implementation.
This webinar gives an overview of five key considerations in deciding the best way to set up an enterprise-wide monitoring system. These considerations are classified into five areas: Security, Administration, Geographic Variation, Multiple Site Types, and IT Infrastructure. Paul Daniel, Sr. Regulatory Compliance Expert at Vaisala uses several examples to look at how these areas present different challenges in different types of operational contexts, specifically: National Warehousers, Regional Hospitals, and Global Manufacturers.
Key takeaways include the following:
- Multisite Security issues: when a one-size-fits-all solution works and when it doesn’t
- System administration: delegation, workload sharing and configuring by site/application
- International monitoring: tackling time zones, local languages, user interface solutions
- Context-specific issues: networking a wide array of sensors without complex programming
- IT Infrastructure: choosing connectivity — Ethernet, Wi-Fi, GSM, emerging RF technologies
Who Will Benefit:
- Quality managers
- Facility managers
- Validation Engineers
- Project managers
