Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas Continues Growth Trajectory with Land and Plan for New Facility
FORT WORTH, Texas (PRWEB) November 17, 2017 -- Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas today announced it is entering the final phase of its capital campaign to build a new facility and more than double its capacity to serve premature and medically fragile infants with safe, pasteurized donor human milk. The new 1.5-acre property in southwest Fort Worth is located at 7617 Benbrook Parkway in a light industrial park. The property includes a 5-year-old 4,700 square-foot office building and sufficient land for construction of a 7,500 square-foot milk processing laboratory. Groundbreaking is planned for Tuesday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m.
Its goal is to raise $350,000 in the campaign’s final, public phase and bring total funds raised to just over $3 million. Mothers’ Milk Bank is contributing its own funds as well.
With existing commitments of more than $2.7 million, Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas (MMBNT) seeks to secure community gifts to complete its $3,067,000 capital campaign, More Room for More Miracles: The Campaign for Healthy Babies. The campaign will fund a new facility, which will triple the nonprofit’s capacity for processing pasteurized donor human milk and allow for the development of new infant health programs.
To date, supporting foundations and organizations include the Amon G. Carter Foundation, the Cook Children's Woman's Board, the Fash Foundation, First Grandmothers’ Club, the Frill Foundation, the Hoblitzelle Foundation, JPS Foundation, the Littauer Educational Trust – Bank of America, the Lockheed Martin AERO Club, the Lowe Foundation, the George and Adelaide McQueen Foundation – JP Morgan Bank, Pediatrix Medical Group – Fort Worth Neonatology and Southwest Bank.
“Our current space was designed to pasteurize up to 300,000 ounces of donated milk per year. For the second year in a row, increased demand will require processing nearly double that volume,” Executive Director Amy Vickers said.
“We are so grateful for our supporters who are making this dream a reality,” said Rosie Balbo, Campaign Committee Chairman. “With more enhanced spaces, the milk bank can help more fragile infants, conduct more clinical research, and launch new community education programs. It’s all about making more miracles.”
