The data illustrates some meaningful opportunities for change throughout the legal function. Polizzotto, who was previously general counsel at both Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers, points out that “Survey respondents list, ‘Identify opportunities for business improvement & cost savings’ as one of their top challenges. Yet 89 percent do not leverage offshore legal process outsourcing and 42 percent do not outsource at all.”
The data also illustrates that LDO professionals are finding that leveraging technology is not enough: no technology was rated as more effective than 7.3 on a 10-point scale, with contract management software ranked lowest at 5.4. “Technology on its own rarely drives greater efficiencies. Law departments must embrace process change along with new technology. That’s what delivers the best results for our clients,” says QuisLex CEO Ram Vasudevan.
