The Malibu beach house that Judy Garland bought in 1947 has been extensively renovated and is for sale.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) December 15, 2017 -- This Week's Top 10 Real Estate News

“Judy Garland's Beach House”
In 1947, a few years after rocketing to fame as Dorothy in 'The Wizard of Oz' and introducing one of the world's favorite Christmas songs 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' in the MGM musical 'Meet Me in St. Louis,' Judy Garland bought a Malibu beach house. Seventy years later and after undergoing a massive renovation in 2013, the 1,728-square-foot house on the sand is for sale at $3.695 million.

“No Trump Bump In Housing”
Although the U.S. stock market has done well since Donald Trump became president, the housing market has not performed nearly as well. According to an analysis by the real estate website Trulia, U.S. home values performed slightly better in President Obama's four years in office than in Trump's first year. And that many housing indicators in blue states have performed better than the red states.

“Saturday Night Fever In Brooklyn”
The Brooklyn house that was John Travolta's family home in the 1970's movie 'Saturday Night Fever' is for sale at $2.498 million. The four-bedroom 1920's Tudor was extensively renovated in 2005 with the typical granite counter tops, stainless-steel appliances, Jacuzzi and floor-to-ceiling windows.

“President Obama's Vacation Beach House”
President Obama and family took two vacations a year when he was in office - one at Christmas to Hawaii and an end-of-summer family vacation on Martha's Vineyard. President Obama's vacation rental on Chilmark Pond is now for sale at $17.75 million. With almost 7,000 square feet, the contemporary-style home includes six bedrooms, seven baths, pool, three fireplaces, half basketball court and home gym. There is also a heated infinity pool and a private boat dock as well as three beachfront lots and a two-bedroom guest house.

“Rental Rates Level Off!”
Many areas of the U.S. have seen significantly higher rental rates as the lack of homes for sale and higher prices have forced many potential buyers into the rental market. According to RentCafe.com, rental rates in some large cities such as Atlanta, Boston, Austin and Washington, D.C. have leveled off while larger markets such as Los Angeles, Seattle and Fort Worth continue to see large increases 5% or higher.

“Matt Lauer's Vast Real Estate Collection”
Matt Lauer may have lost his 'Today' show gig but he has a lot of valuable New York real estate holdings he can fall back on. In addition to an Upper East Side apartment he bought with his wife in 2004 for almost $6 million, Matt bought Richard Gere's 19,000-square-foot Strongheart Manor in the Hamptons in 2016 for $36.5 million. He still owns another Hamptons home with 8,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms and 8 baths that he has been trying to sell since he bought Gere's mansion - now asking $14.9 million. And a New Zealand ranch on Lake Hawea worth about $9 million.

“Springsteen's Jersey House For Sale”
The Freehold, New Jersey home where Bruce Springsteen lived for much of his childhood is for sale. Asking $269,900 in a mostly working-class neighborhood, it is where Springsteen lived with his parents and sister from 1955 to 1962. Another Springsteen-connected home in Long Branch, New Jersey where he wrote 'Born to Run' was available last year at $299,000, but sold for just $94,000.

“New York City's Medieval Apartment”
One of New York's most eclectic apartments belongs to Gerard Butler, and is for sale. Described by the listing agent as 'a highly customized modern vintage motif' and by Butler as 'bohemian old world rustic chateau with a taste of baroque,' Butler's Chelsea loft is a throwback to medieval days with wood-carved columns, 13-foot ceilings, castle-style furniture, distressed plaster walls with peeling and cracking paint, reclaimed barn wood, antique stone and iron. Quite homey for the actor who starred in 'Dracula,' 'Attila' and 'The Phantom of the Opera.' Butler is asking $5.99 million for the two bedroom, 3,150-square-foot apartment.

“Adam Levine Cleaning House”
Adam Levine has listed two Los Angeles homes for sale and recently sold his New York home. A five bedroom home in Holmby Hills that Adam and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, bought earlier this year for $18 million is listed at $18.9 million. The Holmby Hills French Regency-style home includes 9,200 square feet and a two-bedroom guest house. Another Levine home in the Beverly Crest neighborhood is available at $15.9 million. His Beverly Crest home is a more contemporary design with 7,100 square feet on over three acres, five bedrooms, seven baths and a speakeasy-style bar. In 2016, Levine sold his 2,800-square-foot Soho loft for $5.4 million to the co-founder of Dolce Vita shoes.

“Hong Kong's Crazy Parking Prices”
The prices of parking spots in Hong Kong are going up even faster than the city's pricey residential real estate. Some parking spots in Hong Kong have gone up as much as 257 per cent in the last six years reaching as high as $256,000 US.
