National Social Security Advisor Certificate Program Receives National Accreditation
CINCINNATI (PRWEB) December 22, 2017 -- The National Social Security Advisor (NSSA®) certificate program has been accredited by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) in Washington, D.C.
Premier Social Security Consulting of Cincinnati, which teaches the program, announced the accreditation. The NSSA certificate program is now the only accredited Social Security certificate program for professional advisors in the nation. Professional advisors are financial advisors, insurance agents, certified public accountants, and enrolled agents.
The accreditation is valid for five years, according to ICE.
Founded in 2012, the National Social Security Association, LLC is a professional organization acting in the public interest by establishing education, assessment, and ethics requirements for NSSA certificate holders. Currently, the National Social Security Association has awarded NSSA certificates to more than 1,500 advisors. The National Social Security Association, LLC oversees the NSSA certificate program and is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.
“We see this accreditation as an acknowledgement of the high quality of our Social Security certificate program and our gold standard customer support,” said Marc Kiner, partner at Premier Social Security Consulting in Cincinnati, which teaches the NSSA program. “Professional advisors need to learn the Social Security system in order to counsel clients on how to maximize Social Security income so retirees don’t outlive their money. This is especially important now that retirements can last for 30 years.”
About 76 million Americans are classified as baby boomers. Ten thousand boomers turn 65 years old every day in the U.S.
Kiner, a 38-year certified public accountant, sold his CPA firm in 2012 to focus on Social Security education. Jim Blair, a 35-year veteran of the Social Security Administration, joined forces with Kiner seven years ago to help baby boomers understand and maximize their Social Security benefits.
Instruction in the NSSA program takes a full day, and professional advisors who take the Social Security training course and pass an assessment are awarded an NSSA certificate.
The NSSA Social Security education and certificate program will be offered in 18 cities this year, including: Cincinnati; Orlando, Fla.; Dallas, Texas; San Diego; Cleveland; New York City; Seattle; Pittsburgh; Atlanta; Chicago; Charlotte, N.C.; Troy, Mich.; Kansas City; St. Louis; Washington, D.C.; Louisville, Ky.; Houston; and Los Angeles.
Monthly NSSA webinars are offered to provide additional Social Security education. Topics include: new Social Security topics; Social Security-related articles; case studies; Social Security options software; marketing strategies; and advisor questions.

Advisors who take the course can contact Kiner and Blair any time with questions. Support also includes marketing videos, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations and much more, said Blair.
“We developed the NSSA certificate program to help advisors counsel clients on everything they need to know about Social Security but didn’t know they should ask,” said Blair. “NSSA advisors are better educated about Social Security and equipped to help their clients make wise decisions about Social Security.”
A married couple can leave $150,000 or more on the table in Social Security benefits by taking Social Security too early or not coordinating spousal benefits, he added.
Premier has announced a tuition rate increase for 2018, with a discount for registrations made before December 31. Projected tuition for the live class after Dec. 31 will be $995, with web-based and on-demand classes at $695. Premier also provides private, on-site classes for organizations that need to provide in-house Social Security training to multiple professional advisors.
On Dec. 14, the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) granted accreditation to National Social Security Advisor (NSSA) for demonstrating compliance with ICE 1100 – Standard for Assessment-Based Certificate Programs. ICE 1100 was first published in 2009 as the first standard for assessment-based certificate programs. It is an American National Standard (ANS), and ICE is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a standards developer.
Established in 1977, ICE, formerly the national Organization for Competency Assurance, is the leading international membership organization representing the credentialing community. ICE fulfills its mission through the delivery of education and training programs, in setting quality standards for credentialing, and by providing accreditation services, according to the agency. ICE membership is composed of credentialing organizations, testing companies, and individual professional development consultants.
