MB Financial Awards Grant to Train Individuals from low-income areas for Jobs in Banking
Chicago, Il (PRWEB) September 28, 2017 -- MB Financial Bank, N.A. is proud to partner with Association House of Chicago (AHC) through a grant award to support its Financial Careers Training Program – a free program that prepares individuals to become bank tellers, customer service representatives, and personal bankers.
“Partnering with AHC to support the Financial Careers Training Program was a natural choice,” said Vicky Arroyo, President Community Development Corporation for MB Financial Bank. “Educational empowerment is a significant focus of our corporate giving and community development efforts. Participants gain skills that lead to living wage employment, and our organization gets to recruit well-trained, qualified candidates. Everybody wins.”
In addition to providing financial support for AHC’s Financial Careers Training Program, MB Financial employees participate in the program as volunteers. Employees lead workshops, perform mock interviews, attend career fairs, organize field trips to corporate workplaces, and provide students with coaching and mentoring.
“We’re very fortunate to have partners like MB Financial so we can offer this program to the community,” said Association House of Chicago President, Harriet Sadauskas. In 2016, Association House of Chicago began the Financial Careers Training Program after being selected from a competitive process as the Chicago licensee of the national BankWork$ Career Training Program, which was founded in Los Angeles, California in 2006. Since BankWork$ Career Training Program’s founding more than 1,500 graduates have been hired by partner banks and financial institutions, and 84 percent of them remained employed six months after their hire date.
