Senator Roger Wicker to Speak at Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Adolescent Treatment Center
(PRWEB) May 24, 2017 -- Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center in Oxford, Mississippi is pleased to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newly-opened adolescent residential and outpatient treatment facility at 12 PM on Tuesday, May 30th.
“We’re excited to bring much-needed substance use treatment not only to adolescents in the Oxford community but to youth across the nation. There is an immeasurable need for adolescent treatment in our country right now and we’re passionate about bringing cutting-edge therapies to North Mississippi,” explains Elizabeth Fikes, Director of Outreach and Communications for Stonewater.
The Honorable Roger Wicker, US Senator from Mississippi, will offer opening remarks regarding Stonewater and assist in the ribbon-cutting.
“We’re honored that Senator Wicker has agreed to join our launch ceremony. It’s encouraging to see that our representatives in Washington are also concerned about the drug and opioid epidemic in our nation and the scarcity of treatment for adolescents,” said Fikes.
Stonewater is a treatment center for adolescents ages 12-17 and offers individualized recovery plans ranging from withdrawal management and a 90-day residential program to an intensive outpatient program which can be attended after school while the child lives at home. Therapeutic activities range from adventure and nature therapy, art expression and sports wellness to evidence-based programming like Biofeedback and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Private school is offered so that adolescents can maintain their studies during the school year, and meals are planned and prepared by a registered dietician and private chef.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center in Oxford and include Oxford Chamber of Commerce members as well as other local community leaders and politicians.
With over 2 million adolescents cited by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health as needing treatment but not receiving it, Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center is an important and desperately needed addition to addiction resources for the state of Mississippi and entire Southeast region.
