Beyond The Data LLC Teams With Minnesota State Mankato to Teach Working Adults Data & Analytics Smarts
MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) January 17, 2018 -- Beyond the Data LLC (http://BeyondTheData.org), an innovative new education and advisory organization, today announced it is partnering with Minnesota State University, Mankato to offer a new certificate program that will jump-start working professionals in the Twin Cities into understanding and taking advantage of data & analytics and, in doing so, enhance their careers.
The need for data skills is top-of-mind today in business and career circles. It was specifically called out by U.S. News said when it released its 100 Best Jobs in 2018 report on January 10: "Nearly every type of company is looking for people who can analyze and interpret data to solve problems," said Kim Castro, executive editor.
The new certificate program is designed to teach a variety of types of adult working professionals the data & analytics skills they need to be successful in today’s world. The offering is called “Critical Data Thinking & Communication” and is a three-course certificate to help working adults meaningfully understand, gain insights, and communicate stories from and around data. It is being offered at Minnesota State Mankato’s Edina, Minnesota location beginning in February 2018.
“Education must continue to rapidly adapt to deliver maximum value for students, especially in areas like data and analytics,” said Dave Mathias, founder of Beyond the Data and MinneAnalytics board member. “It’s not just about what technical skills you have, but how you’re providing customer value and enabling a data-informed business. And that’s true no matter if you’re a project manager, financial analyst, HR generalist, marketing analyst, product manager, business analyst, journalist, or in any of dozens of other types of professional jobs.”
“Minnesota State Mankato is excited to partner with Beyond the Data in this important data & analytics offering,” said Louise Dickmeyer, director of continuing & professional education. “We know how much these skills mean to businesses, government entities, and nonprofits to excel in this data-driven world.”
The three courses or modules being offered in the “Critical Data Thinking & Communication” certificate program (which may also be taken individually) are as follows:
- Critical Data Thinking & Storytelling
- Data Visualization & Design
- Critical Data Thinking & Communication (Capstone Project)
Each course is 10 weeks in duration. Classes are offered in the evenings (6-9 pm) at the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato at 7700 France Avenue South, Edina, MN 55435.
