Bergen Catholic Hires Vito Campanile as Head Football Coach
ORADELL, N.J. (PRWEB) February 08, 2018 -- Bergen Catholic High School President, Brother Brian M. Walsh, is pleased to announce that Mr. Vito Campanile has been named Bergen Catholic’s next head varsity football coach.
Coach Campanile brings to Bergen Catholic High School thirteen years of experience as a head coach at the high school level, most recently at Seton Hall Prep, where he served as the school’s head varsity football coach for the past three years. Coach Campanile succeeds his brother Nunzio, who served as Bergen Catholic’s head varsity football coach for eight years and in 2017 led the Crusaders to the Non-Public Group 4 State Championship and a #1 ranking in the State of New Jersey.
“I am excited that Vito Campanile will lead our football program,” notes Principal Tim McElhinney. “Coach Campanile is an extremely knowledgeable and successful coach. More importantly though, he is an excellent leader, communicator and mentor of young men. I am certain our students will benefit greatly by interacting with Coach Campanile.”
Vito Campanile announced, “It is with great pride that I have come to an agreement to become the head football coach of Bergen Catholic High School. I feel incredibly blessed for the relationships and bonds that I have developed with my players and coaches during my years of coaching. I look forward to creating the same rapport with the students of Bergen Catholic High School and all those associated with its nationally recognized football program. I have been afforded the honor of continuing the rich tradition of the marquee football program in New Jersey and I am tremendously grateful for that honor. To the Crusader Nation - I am going to give to you my heart and soul. Let’s get to work.”
Coach Campanile has excelled as both a coach and player. He was an all-state quarterback in high school and played quarterback at the University of Massachusetts. Immediately following his collegiate playing days, Coach Campanile entered the college coaching ranks at the University of New Hampshire. There he served as an assistant quarterback coach working directly under Coach Chip Kelly, the current UCLA Coach. As a head coach at the high school level, Coach Campanile led Bergen Tech to two conference championships and a 22-8 record – marking the most successful three-year period in school history. As head coach at Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High School, his team’s won Group 2 Section 1 State Championships in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, Coach Campanile became the head coach of Seton Hall Prep and in his first year led the Pirates to a Super Essex Conference Co-Championship. Coach Campanile was recognized and honored by his peers, when in 2013 he was named the Bergen County Coach of the Year.
“Hiring Vito Campanile is another step in our pursuit for excellence in the classroom, in service to others and on the field,” says Jack McGovern, Assistant Principal for Student Life. “He is a leader and a man of high integrity.
