International Association of Women Inducts Melody Nolan, Founding Director of TreasureLives, Into its VIP Influencer of the Year Circle
CHICAGO (PRWEB) March 06, 2018 -- The International Association of Women (IAW) honors Melody Nolan as a 2018-2019 inductee into its VIP Influencer of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with nearly one million members, 1000+ in person and virtual events, over 100 Local US based Chapters and International Chapters in several cities in China.
“I’m pleased to welcome Melody into this exceptional group of professional women,” said IPDN President and IAW Spokesperson Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Founding Director of TreasureLives, Melody Nolan was inspired to start the organization in memory of Jonathan Lazarus, a brother to her who she lost to suicide in 2013. “I have a Master’s in Counseling and struggle with my own physical and mental health challenges,” said Ms. Nolan. “My responsibilities as Founding Director are to identify what’ s needed to carry out our missions and assemble a team to implement them.”
Neither a counseling center nor crisis intervention service organization, TreasureLives is dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health awareness. “We are proactive and addressing the roots of physical and emotional isolation; a fundamental breakdown in societal communication,” said Ms. Nolan. Using her knowledge, creativity and tools such as an experiential mental wellness curriculum and social media, including the #AwesomeHero, campaign she strives to reach out to those at risk.
Ms. Nolan’s future goals include helping low-income families, veterans, seniors and those with disabilities in securing mental health treatment, as well as reaching out to students and teachers whose schools have experienced gun violence. “I have a vision of visiting those schools one or more years after the tragedy—to bring in TreasureLives when the novelty has worn o and these teenagers have been forgotten. I would like to integrate the curriculum with exercises specific to grief work and recovery from PTSD,” she said.
To accomplish her many goals, Ms. Nolan realizes she will need the assistance of a team of volunteers including licensed professionals, social media mangers, writers, designers, marketing, business and fundraising professionals. “Volunteers will be featured on the ‘Team’ page on our website, acknowledged on social media and given priority at paid positions as they become available,” promised Ms. Nolan.
