Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event Returns to Miami for Five Year Anniversary to Benefit the Lymphoma Research Foundation
MIAMI (PRWEB) March 09, 2018 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will return to the La Gorce Country Club for the fifth annual Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event in Miami Beach on March 20, 2018.
In 2018, National Swirl Series Sponsors AbbVie, Genentech, and Kite Pharma will join Wine Sponsor Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, who will showcase a selection of some of the finest wines in a unique comparison of Old World versus New World wines. Attendees will be able to sample these award-winning wines, enjoy hors d'oeuvres, and participate in an exciting silent auction – all in support of LRF’s mission of eradicating lymphoma and serving those impacted by this blood cancer. This year’s Swirl: Miami will also feature a first-of-its-kind Young Professionals Committee, including area young professionals Sam Halpern, Simone Weissman & Zach Stein.
“Lymphoma impacts more people in the adolescent and young adult community than most people realize,” said Leigh Olson, Swirl: Miami Host Committee Member and Member of LRF’s Board of Directors. “The entire Swirl: Miami Host Committee is thrilled to see young professionals in the Miami community get involved in the fantastic work being done by the Lymphoma Research Foundation.”
Each year, nearly than 6,000 Floridians are diagnosed with lymphoma – the most common form of blood cancer. Since its inception, Swirl: Miami has raised more than $200,000 in support of LRF’s research portfolio and education programs. Last year’s event raised more than $65,000 in support of the Lymphoma Research Foundation and its mission.
“As the national Wine Sponsor of the Swirl Series, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is thrilled to see the continual growth of these events, not only here in Miami, but across the United States,” said Blake Leja, Director of Fine Wine Portfolio Strategy at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, Advanced Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers) and Certified Wine Educator. “This year’s unique tasting comparing Old World wines to New World wines will be an exciting and engaging presentation, all in support of the exceptional work that the Lymphoma Research Foundation continues to do each and every day.”
Nina & Walter Andrews, Debbie & Kevin Fennessey, Barbara & Jerry Freundlich, Midge & Mark Halpern, Elsie & Gene Howard, Leigh & Cory Olson, and Florence & Robert Werner will serve as the evening’s Host Committee.
