TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional Announces Speakers, Sponsors and Performer Joey Cook
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (PRWEB) March 26, 2018 -- TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional Conference is pleased to announce its confirmed speakers, the support of its sponsors, who have come on board to help the conference extend its reach, and introduce American Idol finalist Joey Cook as a performer.
TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional will take place Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the all-female Perrville prison complex in Goodyear, Arizona. The one-day event will address the many challenges and preconceived notions faced in modern corrections, such as combatting substance abuse, the importance and impact of education, business acumen, the bridge of employment to success, business and community partnerships and the power of a second chance. The support of the sponsors for this event, the first to be held in an Arizona prison, mean that this event will extend the overall reach of TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional and the ideas its speakers will share.
American Idol finalist, Joey Cook, will perform specially selected songs throughout the event. Speakers for the event will address ideas relating to the theme, “Behind the Curtain: Brains, Beauty, Business and Beyond.” Confirmed speakers include:
• Darren Chapman, CEO & Founder of Tiger Mountain Foundation
• Karen Hellman, Division Director for Inmate Programs and Reentry at the Arizona Department of Corrections
• Jim Hooker, President & CEO of Televerde
• Dr Marcia Reynolds, President of Covisioning
• Dominique Roe-Sepowitz, Director of the ASU Office of Sex Trafficking Intervention Research (STIR)
“We are so proud of the speaker line-up we’re pulling together. Each of our speakers have their own big idea to share that supports our theme of looking behind the curtain to see the good that comes from someone’s journey of transformation,” said TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional Conference Co-Organizer Michelle Cirocco.
Sponsors of TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional are offering financial support or in kind donations. Confirmed sponsors include:

“We are extremely grateful to our sponsors. We wouldn’t be able to bring TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional to light without their support,” said Ms. Cirocco.
TEDxPerryvilleCorrectional is only the third TEDx event to be held in a female prison and the first to be held in an Arizona prison. The theme, “Behind the Curtain: Brains, Beauty, Business and Beyond” has been carefully crafted by a joint group of business leaders from the greater Phoenix-area and female inmates representing the Perryville prison complex, part of the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC).

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED

TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Monica Lewinsky, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollar TED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with a "wish," or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
