Beginning her 8th year of running her dedicated gluten and dairy free bakery (with plenty of vegan options) in Brunswick, Maryland, owner/baker Beth Johnson has tried all directions. “We were open for retail sales, multiple days a week for the first couple years, then switched to more wholesale, then dedicated wholesale and have come full-circle back to retail for carry out. We tried every possible option to get traffic into the shop in Brunswick and are now ready to serve more of the community and visitors."
With the addition of baked donuts to her offerings, Johnson added a vegan, savory, less sweet donut for sandwiches. She now offers three breakfast and three lunch options on vegan, savory donuts for carry out. Sandwiches like ‘The Carnivore’, ‘The Trifecta’ and ‘The Smiling Vegan’ can now be ordered for carry out from 7am-11am and then 12pm-3pm on Thursdays and Fridays in addition to her normal Saturday hours, and she hopes to add more days per week to compliment downtown Brunswick’s push to bring in more traffic. Johnson also offers catering options for dessert and donut sandwich platters.
Plans to add Stroker’s BBQ to the bakery are getting close as well. Adding BBQ and their large following will allow expanding to evenings and possibly more days as well, for carry out. Johnson says she hopes that addition happens by May, depending on the purchase of some new equipment.
