VOSS Water of Norway donates over 110,000 liters of Water to Puerto Rico
NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 09, 2018 -- Six months after Hurricane Maria wreaked havoc on the island of Puerto Rico leaving millions without electricity and running water, VOSS Water of Norway is responding to the continued need for safe drinking water. With the help of the international NGO, Save the Children, VOSS Water donated over 110,000 liters of clean water to the island which are being distributed to:
·Schools and child care centers
·Women, infant, and children clinics
·Convoy of Hope, an organization distributing food bags across the island.
·Vulnerable families.
“In all 12 of the municipalities Save the Children is working in Puerto Rico, there are still communities who have intermittent or no running water in their homes. Water is still a priority need of the families we are working with,” shared Dawn Nunn, Save the Children’s Director of Gift-in-Kind.
“We are inspired by the strength and courage Puerto Rico has displayed since the storm devastated their beautiful island,” said Joe Bayern, CEO of VOSS Water of Norway. “We are humbled to be able to provide some relief to the communities who have limited or no safe water to drink. I also want to recognize the team at VOSS that worked to transport the water to Puerto Rico safely. I know it was important for them to help contribute to the recovery efforts.”
Save the Children has reached over 60,000 children and adults in Puerto Rico since its response began in the early days after the storm. The nonprofit continues to distribute critical supplies and support the social and emotional recovery of children dealing with stress and uncertainty following the hurricane.
