MVCC Sparks Upstate NY Entrepreneurial Efforts with Affordable College PBC Partnership
UTICA, N.Y. (PRWEB) April 06, 2018 -- Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) has formed a strategic partnership with The Affordable College Public Benefit Corporation (Affordable College) to help more students afford and attain a high-quality degree, certificate, or credential. The partnership brings the leadership team from MVCC into a network of leaders from other Upstate New York institutions to collaborate on the new community college success platform alongside the entrepreneurial team at Affordable College. At launch, the partnership will emphasize helping more students enroll more successfully at MVCC and helping more students transfer more successfully to 4-Year Colleges and Universities from MVCC.
4-Year Colleges and Universities throughout Upstate NY have been collaborating on the new platform to address the challenges community college students face in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. MVCC joins the collaboration to further the improvement of the Transfer Marketplace to the benefit of current and future MVCC students. The Transfer Marketplace is a key feature in the Affordable College platform designed to help students find the transfer friendly 4-Year College or University with the right degree program.
Through the partnership, Mohawk Valley Community College President Randall VanWagoner, Ph.D., continues his support of entrepreneurial activity in the region. “Collaborating with Affordable College adds entrepreneurial energy at MVCC helping us reach more prospective MVCC students and then helping more of those students succeed. We recognize the value of having entrepreneurs working alongside us to sustain and grow the MVCC and Upstate New York region.”
Affordable College Founder, Sean O’Brien, said, “Students should expect outsized returns from their investment in higher education, the kind of returns Mohawk Valley Community College provides because of its quality and affordability. We’re investing in MVCC because we believe in Dr. Wagoner’s commitment to entrepreneurial approaches to problem solving that benefit his students and community. We believe our collective efforts will support both the college completion and economic development goals for MVCC and the region over the next decade and beyond.”
