The Jean Cocteau Hosts Actorvist Mansini and Her Meatballs
SANTA FE, N.M. (PRWEB) April 10, 2018 -- Santa Fe ‘actorvist,’ Debrianna Mansini (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Hell or High Water, Crazy Heart) brings her critically acclaimed solo show The Meatball Chronicles to Santa Fe for two very special performances. The Jean Cocteau owned by the renowned George R.R. Martin is hosting the show at Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living located at 505 Camino De Los Marquez, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87505.
With the heartbeat of her show being about food and the special connection it carries, Mansini was moved to use her voice for something even greater than theater- she wants to help bring a broader awareness to Lunch Shaming and to those who are working to end it nationwide. “When I read about Lunch Shaming, I about lost my mind,” says the actress, who prefers the tag actorvist these days. “How can this be something that happens in our country? To kids? “
Lunch Shaming is what happens when kids who with reduced lunch programs are shamed when their parents owe money to the school. Different schools use anything, from throwing out the hot lunch and giving the student a piece of cheese instead, to stamping I NEED LUNCH MONEY on a child’s arm.
New Mexico was the first state to ban this practice but it happens over the country. New Mexico Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham is working to end it nationwide.
Mansini has decided to help both Lujan Grisham and the Santa Fe nonprofit NM Appleseed. NM Appleseed is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization focused on improving the lives of the poor and underserved through systemic change. “I have time before I take the show to Los Angeles in June and I thought, “Let’s start this effort right here, at home. “
The Meatball Chronicles reveals Mansini’s Italian immigrant family recipes and the complex ways that families cope, laugh, grieve and show their love through food. On May 20th the show will help raise money for Lujan Grisham's Gubernatorial race. Lujan Grisham is carrying the House Bill (H.R. 2401) to End Lunch Shaming nationwide. Campaigners will be present to speak about their efforts at a special VIP party after the show. Every effort is being made to bring Michelle herself to the VIP event.
On May 21st, the show will raise funds for NM Appleseed. There will be a VIP party following the performance to help give the organization a bigger fundraising boost. The Jean Cocteau will have special cocktails inspired by the show at the cash bar. The incredibly creative mixologist, Nicole Lawe, “has something quite amazing on her drink list,” says Mansini. Both VIP events will feature the catering work of Chef Noela Figeroa, owner of the acclaimed Santa Fe restaurant Bodega Prime, which is known for its organic, farm to table, made from scratch menu. Noela has worked within the slow food movement throughout her twenty pus year career, believing that the best food comes from within our community.
