Driven by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, the result is a biometric that cannot be phished and resists willful user fraud that is impossible to detect using legacy biometrics and password.

The CIO Review has named FaceTec as one of its 10 most promising technology solutions providers in physical security for 2018. After a successful commercial rollout on 4 continents, FaceTec’s AI-driven ZoOm® 3D Face Login solution has proven valuable in many applications, including banking and government, and now has been highlighted for its unique physical access security benefits.
ZoOm showcased it’s mobile physical access management capabilities at CES 2018 in a comprehensive self driving-car experience with IAV Automotive Engineering. ZoOm prevented unauthorized access, yet allowed authorized drivers to enter the car instantly, while automatically personalizing environment settings, allowing in-car purchases and giving access to advanced vehicle diagnostics.
Drivers enrolled into IAV’s app with ZoOm, capturing and encrypting the authorized user’s face image, verifying its three-dimensionality, and verifying over 20 liveness traits which were then used to create a user’s biometric “facemap”. The entire enrollment process was completed in only about 20 seconds. When the authorized driver accessed the vehicle, they used ZoOm to authenticate themselves on their smartphone, a process that takes only 1-2 seconds. ZoOm accurately compared the human the user’s mobile camera saw to the facemap of the authorized user. Once successfully matched, the car automatically unlocked and granted access.
“FaceTec’s professional, innovative team and their outstanding commitment to our project helped us integrate ZoOm - the most secure face biometric we’ve ever tested - into our successful connected car project at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. We look forward to continuing to work together on several upcoming projects,“ said Christoph Kielmann, Senior Vice President Vehicle Electronics, IAV Automotive Engineering.
After CES, Turbi, a leading Brazilian car sharing service, deployed their ZoOm-enabled app in only three short weeks. The Turbi app, now downloaded over 100,000 times, authenticates Turbi customers using only their face to unlock one of its fleet cars. Since the user’s 3D face cannot be shared or stolen, Turbi determined that only 3D face authentication was secure enough for vehicle entry. Turbi’s app is a milestone in biometrics: there are no passwords, no PINs, and no second or multiple-factor authentication requirements.
“Turbi’s carsharing service is built on convenience, dependability, value and safety. To keep the experience safe from the start, we chose ZoOm to ensure only the right person has access to the right vehicle. The unmatched security, speed, simplicity and ease of management allows us to focus on growing our business,” said Diego Lira, Turbi CEO.“
More than just facial recognition, ZoOm 3D Face Login utilizes biometric data that cannot be captured and reproduced reliably with today’s media technology. Driven by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, the result is a biometric that cannot be phished and resists willful user fraud that is impossible to detect using legacy biometrics and password. ZoOm can be quickly and easily integrated into any iOS or Android app, and will soon be available for webcams for highly-secure access to banking, insurance, healthcare, and other confidential account data or physical entry without compromising user convenience, regardless of how they log in.
Developers can download the demo app by searching for “ZoOm Login” on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. The ZoOm developer SDK is available free at zoomlogin.com, with plugins for Xamarin, Appcelerator/Titanium, Phonegap, Cordova, Ionic and React Native. ZoOm is free for use in all educational and nonprofit apps globally, as well as for startups, developers and small businesses with less than 10M USD in annual revenue. FaceTec’s patented human authentication software improves security and convenience with the most secure and intuitive 3D face biometric on the market. Now universally available for all smart mobile devices, and soon to be released for webcams, ZoOm leverages decades of Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning experience to ensure not only positive identification, but also three-dimensionality and human liveness.
