This award is a true honor and acknowledges our role in pioneering technologies that deliver real value.

Transformative Wave, a leading energy efficiency innovator, today is recognized for winning the award for highest number of automated fault detection and diagnostic (AFDD) installations on rooftop units (RTUs) by the Better Building Alliance’s Advanced Rooftop Unit Campaign.

The CATALYST, Transformative Wave’s Advanced RTU Control (ARC) technology, improves the efficiency of RTU’s and can be wirelessly connected with the web-based eIQ Platform. The eIQ Platform tracks equipment performance and monitors for a host of faults which once detected are internally diagnosed prior to an automated notification being sent to the designated customer contacts. Depending on the fault, the customer can make control changes remotely to the unit, or schedule for maintenance to be performed according to the severity of the fault. Beyond the 25-50% hard savings delivered from the CATALYST technology, the AFDD notifications allow customers to identify and resolve problems before they become even more costly, or worse, catastrophic.

“The Advanced RTU Campaign has been a strong advocate for improving the efficiency of RTUs. This emphasis on Automated Fault Detection & Diagnostics is a huge step in sustaining those RTU efficiency and performance outcomes. AFDD connects operators with their HVAC assets in ways that go beyond traditional energy management systems. This award is a true honor and acknowledges our role in pioneering technologies that deliver real value.” said Danny Miller, president of Transformative Wave.

Since 2013, the U.S. Department of Energy on behalf of the Better Buildings Alliance’s Advanced Rooftop Unit Campaign, annually recognizes organizations for their energy efficiency leadership in replacing and upgrading RTUs in commercial buildings. This year, Transformative Wave is one of 7 organizations being recognized. Through efficient RTU replacements, retrofits, and quality management and operations in 2017 alone, these 7 organizations’ efforts collectively saved an estimated 50 million kWh or more than $5 million on utility costs. Over the lifetime of the Campaign, 318 partners have upgraded 114,354 RTUs for over $90 million in energy cost savings.

About the Advanced RTU Campaign: The Advanced RTU Campaign is a market transformation initiative that encourages commercial building owners and operators to improve the efficiency of roof top units across the country. By replacing old RTUs with more efficient units, retrofitting existing RTUs with advanced controls, and implementing intelligent controls and automated fault detection and diagnostics (AFDD), you can save money, improve your energy efficiency, make your building more comfortable, and help the environment. Reducing a building's cooling and ventilating energy consumption by 20–50% can save as much as $3,700 per RTU—equivalent to $6.7 billion and 670 trillion Btu annually.
