James Scott Farrin Awards Shirley Credle 2017 Social Service Award
DURHAM, N.C. (PRWEB) April 11, 2018 -- James Scott Farrin Human Resource & accounting assistant, Shirley Credle, received the 2017 James Scott Farrin Social Service Award for her ongoing efforts fostering children and working with children currently in foster care.
“My mom was always taking people in,” Credle said. “Caring for others has been instilled in me since I was a young child. When I became a parent, myself, it came naturally to me to want to take care of other people’s children who seemed to gravitate to our house.”
President and firm founder, James S. Farrin, is a big believer in a culture that gives back corporately and individually.
“Our corporate culture believes in giving back to the community through a wide range of statewide and local social service and community efforts,” Farrin said. “We try to foster an environment where every employee has an opportunity to give either of their time, money, or both, to worthwhile causes, just as Shirley does. And many do. We believe this grounds us and is the right thing to do.”
In fact, Credle took a week of her vacation so that she and her two teenage daughters could volunteer at Royal Family Kids’ Camp, a summer camp for foster children.
“This opportunity is like Disneyland for these children – and for those of us who volunteer. There’s swimming, horseback riding, fishing, and all kinds of activities these children may not have an opportunity to take advantage of otherwise,” Credle said. “But best of all there’s an opportunity to show these kids that there are people in the world who truly care.”
ABOUT ROYAL FAMILY KIDS CAMP
The primary purpose of Royal Family Kids Camp is to give foster children ages 6-12 a week of positive memories and royal treatment in a Christian Camp environment. A fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 14th at North Haven Church.
