CARY, N.C. (PRWEB) April 17, 2018 -- DZone, Inc. today named Matt Tormollen, an accomplished Raleigh-Durham based technology leader, as its new Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Rick Ross, who retired in December, 2017. Matt will be based at DZone’s headquarters in Cary and started his new role on April 16, 2018.
“I’m excited to join DZone,” said Tormollen. “In my career I’ve been an enterprise developer, run marketing at software companies, and, most recently, had responsibility for a developer relations site for a cloud-based software company. I’m eager to leverage this unique combination of experiences at DZone as we capitalize on the fast-growing developer relations marketplace.”
In October of 2017, DZone received a strategic investment from SFW Capital Partners of Rye, New York. As part of that investment, DZone is making significant investments in new hires in it’s Cary, NC headquarters, launching new developer focused software capabilities and driving growth through expanded product lines, increased sales capacity and new marketing infrastructure to deliver great value for its community of developers, contributors and sponsors.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Matt join the DZone team.” said SFW Principal Omair Sarwar. “His breadth of experience leading enterprise software companies, in addition to his numerous marketing leadership roles, positions him well to lead DZone into the next phase of its growth and development and to accelerate DZone’s vision for becoming the category leader in developer focused content, community and engagement solutions.”
“This is a fantastic time in the evolution of DZone. Our company is stronger than ever, we are experiencing tremendous growth, and we are at the center of the global developer ecosystem that is changing every company on the planet,” said Co-founder and President Matt Schmidt. “Matt is an outstanding executive with strong experience leading technology companies. I am confident DZone is in good hands for the next stage of its growth as we accelerate our investment in our people and our products.”
Matthew Tormollen has been a leader in the technology sector for two decades. He has held senior positions at Avalara, FuelQuest, and Broadjump, among others. Most recently, he served as the head of Avalara’s global research and development organization where he led diverse teams responsible for building and delivering business-critical SaaS B2B solutions. Prior to that he was CEO of FuelQuest, an investor-backed business based in Houston that sold it’s cloud-based tax compliance business to Avalara in 2014.
