Washington State Deploys STACS DNA’s Track-Kit Sexual Assault Kit Tracking System
OTTAWA, Ontario (PRWEB) April 17, 2018 -- STACS DNA, the sample-tracking software company, today announced that the state of Washington has started rolling-out the Track-Kit sexual assault kit (SAK) tracking system. Washington State Patrol selected Track-Kit as the system that best meets all their requirements including an aggressive deadline for statewide implementation to thousands of users by the end of 2018.
Additional deciding factors were the comprehensive, intuitive system, superior privacy for survivors and STACS DNA’s SAK-tracking experience. Of importance to Washington, Track-Kit gives survivors a simple, private, anonymous way to access information about the status of their kit. This simply wasn’t possible before.
“Track-Kit meets the needs for all stakeholders – the survivors, medical facility, law enforcement, prosecutors, administrators – and is easy for each one of them to use,” said Robert Marlatt, Application Development and Support Section Manager, Washington State Patrol. “We are layering this on top of the other existing systems they already use, so it had to be simple and intuitive.”
“We are thrilled to be rolling-out Track-Kit in the state of Washington, which is leading the way in tracking SAKs,” said Jocelyn Tremblay, President and COO, STACS DNA. “For the past four years, we’ve been working with state agencies and sexual assault task forces across the United States so that we would be prepared with a complete, off-the-shelf, turnkey system that will be deployed quickly and be easy for everyone to use.”
STACS DNA has more than a decade of experience tracking SAKs in STACS-CW software which is used in forensic DNA laboratories across the United States. Track-Kit extends this to tracking the entire end-to-end lifecycle of every SAK--from inventory to collection at the medical facility to analysis at the DNA laboratory. This prevents delayed and lost kits and helps the state meet its processing and reporting deadlines. The system provides status updates 24 hours a day to everyone involved in collecting and processing sexual assault cases, including the survivor.
