Harvard researchers found that each year there are approximately 120,000 deaths in the U.S. related to excess stress and close to $190 billion is spent in healthcare costs as a result of exposures to harmful workplace conditions like working too many hours, job insecurity, not feeling things are fair and just. The workplace is not the only place where people feel stressed. Students are bombarded with stress during their college experience, from adjusting to college life to the social pressures and work responsibilities. A 2016 poll conducted by the American College Health Association found that 34.4% of college students reported that stress has negatively impacted their academic performance over the past 12 months.
With over a decade of experience as a lifestyle expert and yoga instructor, Davis has seen the physical and emotional toll of stress up close, from headaches and digestive problems to insomnia and anxiety. Davis’ antidote to stress is a simple yet effective program of deep breathing techniques, easy-to-master yoga postures, and lifestyle tools such as aromatherapy and healing recipes.
Davis will be holding free lectures and workshops on the topic of transforming stress to peace and will start with a learn to meditate 2018 meditation tour, being held throughout the NY Metro region in areas like Westchester County, Connecticut, New Jersey and Long Island. Citing a recent “Stress in America” survey by the American Psychological Association, in the 10-year history of the survey, results have shown the most significant increase in stress levels just over the last year.
