The initiative is launching with a 24-hour marathon Spin® ride

In an effort to give back, San Diego-based fitness studio, Studio SWEAT and Studio SWEAT onDemand (SSoD) is launching ‘SWEAT Gives Back,’ an initiative that they hope will be the start of a traditional event and lasting impact. To kick it off, the team behind Studio SWEAT and Studio SWEAT onDemand is hosting a 24-hour Spin® ride on April 28, 2018 to April 29, 2018, with proceeds benefiting local San Diego high school student, Isaac Coulapides and his family.

Isaac Coulapides was just like any other teenager – a junior at Mount Carmel High School and a star athlete, when on the evening of October 6th, 2017, tragedy struck. Coming home from a football game, Isaac was in a one-car accident, resulting in a severed spinal cord and fractured sternum, leaving Isaac paralyzed from the chest down. The team and community are rallying together to raise funds to help cover some of the expenses the family has incurred.

“You never think this sort of thing could happen to anyone you’re close to, but it does and it can,” says Cat Kom, founder and head trainer at Studio SWEAT and SSoD. “We have a mission bigger than fitness and training, and now is our time to share that with Isaac and his family. We can’t wait to see what this incredible community can do together to make an impact!”

SWEAT Gives Back is Studio SWEAT’s way of doing something to help a greater good, specifically, Isaac and to help make the world a better place! To help, the studio is encouraging R.A.D. behavior!

Ride: Participants can spin along with fellow Komrades (the SSoD online community) or in studio in San Diego. The Ride for Isaac is a non-stop 24-hour donation based marathon ride from 12pm April 28th – 12pm April 29th. The amazing Studio SWEAT trainers will be cycling for hour+ blocks, and anyone can join in! The link to join live or donate can be found here, or participants can secure a spot to ride in the San Diego studio by emailing reservations(at)

Act: During the weekend of SWEAT Gives Back, people are encouraged to perform a good deed to make our world a better place. Simple acts of kindness go a long way, and no act is too small or too big. Studio SWEAT is encouraging everyone to, help a neighbor, donate clothes, do something to make someone else (and you!) feel good.

Donate: Anyone who is able is asked to contribute to this amazing, amazing cause by making a donation here, The goal is $10,000, but with an online community as strong as SSoD, the studio believes it can surpass that!
