“Seventy Times Seven”: a children’s story about wanting something special, friendship, and forgiveness. “Seventy Times Seven” is the creation of published author, Rita Youngblood Rabalais. Rita Rabalais was born in Louisiana as the fifth of seven children. She and her husband, Jim, still live in Louisiana. They are the proud parents of three sons, Alex, Micah, and Taylor. She enjoys traveling, photography, cycling, and of course, reading. Rita was a teacher for over thirty-three years and still refers to her former students as “my kids.”
“I sneaked a look at Papa, and his eyes were twinkling. Mama slid her chair back and walked back to her bedroom. She returned with a big box wrapped in paper with big yellow flowers all over it. I held my breath as I opened the present.” --Rita Youngblood Rabalais
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Rita Youngblood Rabalais’s new book is a story for every child who has ever loved a special toy or pet.
In the spring of 1934, young Pearl only had one wish for her birthday. She wanted a real doll. She did not want a paper doll or a rag doll. She wanted a real one like the one she saw in the store window. Like the rest of the nation, however, Louisiana was in the midst of The Great Depression and such a special gift had become a rare thing. After weeks of hoping and dreaming, Pearl finally receives a doll more beautiful that she ever dreamed possible then something terrible happens.
