“The History of Christianity: Not Catholicism”: an exploration of Scripture as it relates to the expression of faith in different Christian denominations. “The History of Christianity: Not Catholicism” is the creation of published author John Arthur Stone, a US Navy veteran with twenty-one years of service and retired sheriff’s deputy in northern Idaho who enjoys the outdoors, fishing, oil painting, woodworking, and reading nonfiction.
This book was written as a result of the author’s decade-long search for a church that teaches strictly from the Bible. As a child through the beginning of his teenage years, the author attended nondenominational community churches. As he got older and began attending various denominational churches, he discovered many differences in the teachings from the same Bible, so he set out to trace Christianity from the first century to today and discovered corruption in every century.
Because 95 percent of "Christian" history is based on Catholicism, it is extremely difficult to find any references to "true" Christian history, and consequently, many of the blanks need to be filled in with educated (or seemingly logical) assumptions. To do this, the author points out many of the differences in the various denominations and references them to what the Bible actually says. The author uses only the King James and the Geneva Bible scriptures as the most accurate because they are the earliest Bibles translated into English and because there are almost no differences between the two.
