James Scott Farrin Donates to Community Organizations Across NC
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (PRWEB) May 10, 2018 -- The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin recently made donations to area crisis organizations in many communities across North Carolina as part of the law firm’s ongoing philanthropic efforts.
Reflecting the law firm’s commitment to communities across North Carolina, employees collected donations for crisis organizations in many of their 14 office locations throughout the state. By March, 2018, the firm had made donations to:
• Area Congregations in Ministry (ACIM) in Henderson
• A Simple Gesture in Greensboro
• Urban Ministries of Wake County in Raleigh
• Fayetteville Urban Ministry in Fayetteville
• Crisis Assistance Ministry in Charlotte
Terri Smith, the firm’s office coordinator in the Charlotte office has occasionally referred clients who have met with hard times to Crisis Assistance Ministry in Charlotte for assistance.
“You would be surprised at the downward spiral that can happen to innocent people – entire families – while they fight the insurance company for compensation,” Smith said. “Many people live paycheck to paycheck, and if they can’t work, they can’t pay their bills.”
Crisis Assistance Ministry in Charlotte ministers to working individuals and families who may be unable to support themselves temporarily. They operate a “free store” stocked with many of the necessary items families need and use every day – school uniforms, underwear, pots and pans, work boots, toiletries, and other necessities. The store is set up like a regular store and is designed to try to preserve people’s dignity.
When Smith became aware that the Crisis Assistance Ministry in Charlotte offers donation drives to stock the organization’s “free store,” she organized a state-wide drive across several of the law firm’s offices.
Once the drive was completed some of the Charlotte employees transported the donations from various offices to the Charlotte location, where they were then donated to Crisis Assistance Ministry. There were so many donations that attorney Sidney Fligel volunteered the use of his pickup truck to carry them to the ministry.
Fligel said, “We had an entire truckload full of items. All the lawyers in our office and paralegals and others got together and packed that truck full. There were monetary donations, too. It was truly a team effort, not only in the Charlotte office, but statewide.”
