Horse Protection Advocates Blast Trump Administration Plan as a ‘War on Wild Horses, Public Rangelands & the Environment'
(East Norwich, NY) (PRWEB) April 28, 2018 -- CANA Foundation - a major organization that protects wild horses blasted a BLM (Bureau of Land Management) report that includes mass sterilization, sale without limitations and even slaughter to manage horse populations across America.
CANA has also launched a petition drive to demonstrate opposition to the Trump plan at http://www.canafoundation.org/petition.
Manda Kalimian, CANA’s founder, said, “This report basically invites a war on wild horses. It offers population management options including mass sterilization, sale without limitations, euthanasia, and would continue allowing the federal government to spend taxpayer money rounding up and capturing tens of thousands of horses, then confining them to tiny holding cells, ending their ability to roam free on public lands. It said nothing about far less costly and humane alternatives such as returning horses to available Native and Non-Native American lands, which could even generate revenues to Washington.”
“Horses enhance and protect our environment, not destroy it,” Kalimian said. “America’s Wild Horses are key to ensuring the viability and preservation of our open space and public land. Without them we risk losing America’s heritage.”
Additionally, the proposal is driven to enable the BLM to continue to use its federal grazing program to subsidize livestock producers grazing on public lands. Private cattle outnumber wild horses 50 to 1 and cost taxpayers billions via unpaid ranching leases on public lands and destroying their ecosystem. This proposal continues the preferential treatment of public lands for livestock grazing over the wellbeing & sustainability of our wildlife & environment.
“Stay connected to CANA Foundation for updates. Stand with us for America’s Wild Horses who are now in crisis due to this inhumane plan that will cost taxpayers millions and further jeopardize our horses, humans and habitat,” concluded Manda Kalimian.
Head to CANA’s website, http://www.canafoundation.org and sign our petition to any BLM plan that threatens wild horses with extinction and further decimates our public lands. This BLM plan threatens the health and sustainability of our wild horses and the public rangelands they lawfully call home.
