JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (PRWEB) May 02, 2018 -- Gilbane Building Company, a national leader in the construction of proton therapy facilities, celebrated the milestone of topping out the concrete at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute Gantry Expansion Project. The ceremony was attended by UF Health Proton Therapy staff, University of Florida Planning, Design and Construction staff, as well the trades, design team and engineers.
Gilbane thanked the teams on site for their dedication to reaching the milestone of topping out the last of the 10 concrete pour sequences, which resulted in 4,400 tons put in place. Attendees were invited to sign the embed which was memorialized in the last concrete placement.
"This is a significant milestone,” said Ryan Snow, project manager for Gilbane. “The team worked hard to get to this point. We are excited to deliver this project and know that it will serve the community and offer additional treatment for patients battling cancer."
Once complete, the expansion will house a new single room treatment system. The addition increases the facility’s treatment rooms to four and increasing capacity to treat more patients.
