Author John C. Miller’s Newly Released “Petting A Lion” is the Tale of a Man who Must Confront His Deepest Fears and His Own Self when He Returns to His Home Town
MEADVILLE, Pa. (PRWEB) May 11, 2018 -- “Petting A Lion”: a tale of rediscovering one’s self. “Petting A Lion” is the creation of published author, John C. Miller.
“If a person knows who and what he or she truly is and believes, then it doesn’t matter if a lion comes and roars, as is the lion’s nature. That person can wave the lion away, and the lion will go away. If they know themselves more profoundly, who and what they are, and believe, then they can pet the lion and ask the lion to play.” --John C. Miller
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Miller’s new book is the story of a man who must confront his true self.
Jackson Jeremiah Montgomery provided several choices of ways to be recognized: Jack, Jerry, JJ, Monty, Jackson, Jeremiah. He preferred Jackson, but he had answered to all the others. Jackson did not set out to be what he became. As unplanned, unstructured, and undirected as his life was, he had some sense of being something else, anything else. He had by pure happenstance acquired a job with a company based in Atlanta that made industrial films. The company’s founder and owner had come to Melville to make a film about raising chickens when Jackson seized upon the opportunity that was offered to him.
Jackson now sat at the bar in his restaurant and thought of his return to Melville. His reputation was that of a rather mysterious and moody loner, but one with good manners and disposition if anyone with the same attributes challenged his privacy. He had little idea what he would find for himself in Melville. His homes there, the structures, were gone. The lives that he had lived there were gone. One had burned away with little resistance and a confused purpose. The other had been swept away with little defense and no purpose. He did not know why his father had burned the one. Perhaps, it was to ensure he would leave his son nothing.
