Greenberg Traurig Attorneys to Present on Legalized Gambling in Japan at the 3rd Annual Japan Gaming Congress
TOKYO (PRWEB) May 07, 2018 -- Greenberg Traurig’s Michael J. Bonner, Koji Ishikawa, and Martha A. Sabol, will speak at the third annual Japan Gaming Congress, May 10-11, at the Conrad Tokyo. Greenberg Traurig is a sponsor of the two-day forum, which gathers business and industry leaders to discuss developments in Japan’s integrated resort (IR) and casino industry.
On Thursday, May 10, Ishikawa will participate on the panel, “Creating opportunities for local community and business.” The panel will discuss the effect of IRs on local business and industry, including its role in job creation. Ishikawa, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Tokyo office, focuses his practice on corporate finance and capital markets matters. He also has experience handling cross-border transactions and advising clients in the technology sector. He is currently a visiting scholar at University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ William S. Boyd School of Law, where he is researching e-sports and e-sports betting.
On Friday, May 11, Bonner will participate as a panelist in a session titled, “Selecting, financing and building the right location – Metropolitan vs. Regional.” The panel will explore key considerations associated with IR projects, including location, capital requirements, return on investment, financing, and deal structure. Bonner, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Las Vegas Office, concentrates his practice on corporation finance, corporate governance, business transactions, securities, and gaming.
Also on Friday, Sabol will moderate a panel exploring the next phase of IR development in Japan. The panel will discuss licensing and regulatory rules, as well as Japan’s pending IR Implementation Bill, which proposes to regulate legalized gambling. Sabol, who co-chairs Greenberg Traurig’s Gaming Practice as well as the firm’s Women's Initiative, focuses her practice on gaming regulatory and business law, representing national and international casino owners, operators and suppliers in the areas of regulatory compliance, acquisition, licensure, internal investigation matters, and corporate counseling.
