Bay Alarm Medical (https://www.BayAlarmMedical.com), a leading supplier of senior medical alert systems, today announced the winners of its 2018 scholarship essay contest. Three deserving, inspiring students were awarded scholarships based on their essays.

The 1st Place $3,500 scholarship was awarded to Madeline Row, who is studying nursing at Point Loma Nazarene University.

The 2nd Place $2,000 scholarship was awarded to Ana Danko, who is studying Gerontology at the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology.

The 3rd Place $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Rachel Dovsky, who is studying at Mira Costa College.

The winners were chosen from more than 400 entries into the Bay Alarm Medical scholarship essay contest. Students were asked to submit essays describing how working with seniors has impacted their lives and taught them valuable life lessons.

“This was our third scholarship essay contest, and the response was the largest we’ve seen to date,” says Alan Wu, Marketing Director of Bay Alarm Medical. “It’s truly heartwarming to see that so many of America’s students are dedicating their time to helping the elderly.”

Wu says that the three scholarship winners wrote essays that touched his team’s hearts and met all of the contest entry criteria.

The essay contest was open to any graduating high school senior or college student enrolled in an undergraduate program for the 2018-2019 school year. Students were required to be involved in community service working with the elderly or to participate in caregiving duties for an elderly relative living in their home.

Wu says that his company will be offering another round of scholarships in the Fall of 2018.

“We’re committed to helping seniors, helping young people and helping our community,” says Wu. “Scholarships are a good way to encourage more young people support seniors and grow from that experience.”
