Novel Explores Virtual Spaces In the 22nd Century

Nathan Moore

The book reveals how virtual reality has become a method of creating our own pleasure worlds or hell in some cases.

At the turn of the 22nd Century, the effects of cultural collapse compel a gaming aficionado to leave his sedated existence and upload his mind to a computer-brain interface. To reach paradise, Michael must traverse nine levels in virtual reality.

That's the premise for Cloud 9 ($23.99, paperback, 9781545623930; $8.99, e-book, 9781545625200), a science fiction novel that features Michael's journey into a virtual reality world.

“I believe that this novel will appeal to readers as an escape from reality,” Nathan Moore says. “Not only as a reader, but in the ways this novel portrays virtual spaces.”

The book reveals how virtual reality has become a method of creating our own pleasure worlds or hell in some cases.

“My novel contributes to trends in the market by appealing to leisure and not dystopia,” the authors states. “Our most enduring facets of fun are tied in with how we can get away from the mundane. My novel addresses that very thing, going in depth to describe virtual reality/games.”

A native of Long Beach, California, Nathan Moore is a writer and multimedia artist. He attends UCLA and works with the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment.
