KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) May 24, 2018 -- The American Royal is pleased to announce the results of the 31st Annual American Royal 2018 World Series of Barbecue Sauce Contest, as well as the results of the 2018 American Royal World Series of Barbecue® Rub Contest. The “Best Sauce on the Planet” winner and “Best Rub on the Planet” winner will each be presented with a legendary globe trophy during the Invitational awards ceremony at the world’s largest barbecue competition – the American Royal World Series of Barbecue – September 13 - 16 at the Kansas Speedway.

Congratulations to the following 2018 Best Sauce on the Planet Winner and 2018 First Place Winners:

  • Sweet & Tangy (Rob’s Smokin’ Rub & Frog Sauce, California) – 2018 Best Sauce on the Planet, BACK TO BACK SAUCE CONTEST WINNER - In 2017, Rob’s Smokin’ Rub & Frog Sauce placed first in vinegar with “Frog Sauce” and earned the 2017 Best Sauce on the Planet title. Also in 2017, he placed 3rd in the vinegar category with “Sweet Chipotle”.
  • Sweet Lady Love (Best Damn BBQ Sauce, Oregon) –2018 First Place Mild Tomato
  • PAT BBQ HOT (PAT BBQ, Quebec, Canada) – 2018 First Place Hot Tomato, 2018 RUB CONTEST WINNER – PAT BBQ won the 2018 Best Rub on the Planet title last weekend in the 2018 World Series of Barbecue® Rub Contest with his “PAT BBQ HOT” rub.
  • Cookies Tangy Mustard BBQ Sauce (Cookies Food Products, Iowa) – 2018 First Place Mustard
  • Sweet & Tangy (Rob's Smokin' Rub & Frog Sauce, California) – 2018 First Place Vinegar
  • Curry Beast (Ba-B-Que Beast, LLC, Pennsylvania) – 2018 First Place Specialty

A group of over 50 Certified Barbecue Judges assembled at the American Royal to participate in a blind tasting of 388 barbecue sauce entries. The assembled judges evaluated barbecue sauces submitted from 35 states and 8 countries including Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, England, Finland, New Zealand, Norway, and the United States.

Congratulations to the following 2018 First Place Winners and the 2018 Best Rub on the Planet Winner:

  • PAT BBQ HOT (PAT BBQ - Cacouna, Quebec) – 2018 First Place Hot
  • Touch of Sweet (Southern Dutch BBQ - Bavel, North Brabant, Netherlands) – 2018 First Place
  • Mild PAT BBQ HOT (PAT BBQ - Cacouna, Quebec) – 2018 Best Rub on the Planet

40 Certified Barbecue Judges assembled at the American Royal to participate in a blind tasting of 196 barbecue rub entries. The assembled judges evaluated barbecue rubs submitted from 31 states and 7 countries including Canada, England, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland and the U.S.A.
