Vector Marketing has named Reston, Virginia resident Rich Plaskon its Next Gen Sales Manager. In this position, he will be responsible for developing programs to effectively recruit college graduates and adult non-students.

I’m excited to create a brand new program from scratch...and to impact the company in a much larger capacity than I was able to as a Division Manager

Vector Marketing, the single level direct sales and marketing arm of Cutco Cutlery, has named Reston, Virginia resident Rich Plaskon its National Next Gen Sales Manager. In his new position he will be developing programs where the “Next Gen” applicants can apply and interview online, get trained online, and conduct all of their Cutco appointments online with their customers.

For decades, Vector Marketing and Cutco have focused their attention on recruiting high school seniors and college students looking for meaningful work experience. Over the years, they realized there’s a large market of college graduates and non-students who are working full-time jobs and are looking for a part-time position as supplemental income. Through their Next Gen efforts, Rich Plaskon and Vector Marketing are turning their attention to this audience segment.

“My goal is to provide every Vector/Cutco office in the nation with extra sales and sales reps who work remotely and can be managed over the phone or Skype,” said Plaskon. “Office managers can still focus on their student work programs and the “adult” Next Gen reps will be a great addition to their workforces.”

Plaskon joined Vector Marketing in 1989 as a college student and worked as a Branch Manager and District Manager before being promoted to Division Manager in 1994. With career sales exceeding $84 million, he has been inducted into the Corporate Hall of Fame and is a Corporate Silver Cup winner.

“As much as I loved working with high school and college students for 28+ years, I’m ready for a change,” said Plaskon. “I’m excited to create a brand new program from scratch...and to impact the company in a much larger capacity than I was able to as a Division Manager. All of my programs will be designed to impact the entire company, not just my own division.”

He will be operating from his home office in Reston, Virginia and is excited to become involved in projects that are completely different than any of the responsibilities he’s had as a Division Manager.
