Guardian ad Litem, 13th Circuit, Launches New Video – “Hero”
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) June 04, 2018 -- For more than 30 years, the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program has served as Hillsborough County’s exclusive advocate for children in the court system. Today, they have announced the release of a new video titled “Hero.”
The video was a true community effort between Guardian ad Litem of Hillsborough County and various partners with the purpose of boosting recruitment efforts for their volunteer program. There are currently over 3,500 children in the Dependency System in Hillsborough County.
“We simply do not have enough volunteers to assign to every child. Almost 1,500 children in the system do not have the benefit of a guardian looking out for their best interests. It’s truly devastating,” said Tabitha Lambert, Circuit Director at Guardian ad Litem Hillsborough County.
The “Hero” concept for the video was developed by CompleteSpectrum, a Tampa-based marketing agency. The video serves as a tool to educate the community about GAL’s volunteer program and the impact volunteers have on a child’s life by “giving them a voice” in the Hillsborough County court system.
“The Guardian ad Litem program is a great way for volunteers to donate their time to help a local Tampa Bay area child improve the quality of their life. The video is titled Hero for a reason. The children in the program are usually abandoned or neglected and placed in the foster care system. GAL volunteers are legal representatives, but also serve as role models to the children,” said Brandon Tydlaska-Dziedzic, Art Director at CompleteSpectrum.
Volunteers are required to spend time with their assigned child so they can recommend outcomes to judges and lawyers that are in their best interest. During the process, volunteers get to know the children very well. The video highlights a typical volunteer/child activity – a day at the park.
“Volunteering is an emotionally rewarding experience. I think the video does a good job of capturing the sense of pride and purpose they feel in helping a child, and making a difference in their community,” said Yvonne Marrone, Community Outreach Coordinator at Guardian ad Litem Hillsborough County.
