SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PRWEB) May 29, 2018 -- Lydia P. Howell, professor and chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UC Davis Health received a Resolution from the California Legislature in celebration and recognition of her department's 50 years of service and achievements in education, health care and clinical research.
Signed by Senator Richard Pan and Assembly Member Kevin McCarty, the resolution specifically called out the department's "vision to lead through innovation in pathology and laboratory medicine, education and scientific discovery."
The resolution recognized the department's excellence in molecular pathology, apheresis as well as all the subspecialty areas that meet the tertiary and quaternary care needs of the region.
It also acknowledged the department's leadership in bringing advanced technologies to the region to improve the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and in training the next generation of pathologists and cytotechnologists.
Ann Madden Rice, UC Davis Medical Center CEO, presented the resolution at the Stowell Lecture and Symposium, an annual event made possible through the philanthropy of founding chair, Robert Stowell.
Abul Abbas, chair of pathology at UC San Francisco, was the 2018 Stowell Lecturer, and department faculty also highlighted research accomplishments.
