“InstallAware’s track record in being the first to support new Microsoft technologies is self-evident. We are thrilled to have them helping Windows developers worldwide,” adds Andrew Clinick, Group Program Manager at Microsoft.

InstallAware Software, the technology leader in software installation, repackaging, and virtualization solutions for application producers and enterprises, announced today the launch of InstallAware X8. InstallAware is the most flexible platform for traditional and agile development teams creating Windows and Azure software installers, as well as MSIX, APPX, Microsoft App-V Virtualization, and agentless/royalty-free InstallAware Virtualization packages.

InstallAware X8 is the first and only installer to ship with Acrylic Material support, helping developers build setups which conform to Microsoft’s Fluent Design System. Also new in InstallAware X8 is support for unlimited undo/redo in the Setup Wizard Dialog Designer, making it easy for developers to experiment.

InstallAware X8 now integrates with Visual Studio Team Services, including the convenient capability to simply acquire files without mapping them to a local folder, a convenience that competing vendors lack.

InstallAware X8 updates its compression engine, with a new heuristic compression mode outperforming the previous engine, reducing download times and cutting on bandwidth costs. A related new feature is Instant Extraction – where a setup launches instantly, even if its payload is in the multi-gigabyte range – improving the end-user experience and allowing for precise developer control over the extraction process.

“We are in a strategic relationship with Microsoft, who have welcomed our support for new MSIX packaging technology,” says Francesco Toscano, CTO at InstallAware Software. “InstallAware’s track record in being the first to support new Microsoft technologies is self-evident. We are thrilled to have them helping Windows developers worldwide,” adds Andrew Clinick, Group Program Manager at Microsoft.
