“Building the Dream”: a stirring narrative of passion and labor in the automobile industry. “Building the Dream” is the creation of published author, Larry R. Herrin, a registered professional engineer and veteran of General Motors (GM) with a background as a production and maintenance supervisor and a process control manager, among numerous other roles. He recently retired from his role as a business and quality assurance manager.

Herrin shares, “The glue that held Corvette together was the team, but the glue that held the car together was a two-part adhesive: a resin and a hard¬ener. Just like what is purchased at Walmart, these two components required mixing and used in a specific manner and time. In order to mix them, the application nozzles had replaceable plastic tubes that slipped into the nozzles. Within the plastic tubes were inserts made of plastic with a maze of twists, turns, and open spaces, which thor¬oughly mixed the two-part adhesive into one strong bonding agent.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Larry R. Herrin’s new book details the creation of a masterpiece through the efforts of dedicated individuals, as well as historical and biographical excerpts of the geniuses of Corvette.

“Building The Dream” tells the story of automotive icon through the words of a GM veteran as he lays out philosophical, historical, and biographical information that truly brings the story to life. Larry R. Herrin’s writing is speckled with unique insight and reflections.
