Square 9® Softworks Announces Certification On EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (PRWEB) June 05, 2018 -- New Haven based Square 9® Softworks, Inc., announced today their participation in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, which was designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission to better support transatlantic commerce. This program provides a mechanism for compliance when exchanging personal data between organizations on both sides of the Atlantic.
The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield is a self-certification program that provides enhanced privacy protections for European Union consumers, while enabling thousands of companies in the United States to receive personal data from the EU to support international trade, grow the digital economy, and help businesses provide the best user experience.
The Privacy Shield program, which is administered by the International Trade Administration (ITA) within the U.S. Department of Commerce, enables U.S. based organizations to join the Privacy Shield Frameworks to benefit from the adequacy determinations. To join the Privacy Shield Framework, a U.S. based organization will be required to self-certify to the Department of Commerce and publicly commit to comply with the requirements of the Framework. While joining the Privacy Shield is voluntary, once an eligible organization makes the public commitment to comply with the framework’s requirements, the commitment will become enforceable under U.S. law.
