Seafood Nutrition Partnership Leaders to Present at Northwest Fisheries Association June Member Meeting
ARLINGTON, Va. (PRWEB) June 11, 2018 -- Linda Cornish, president and founder of Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP), and Captain Keith Colburn, star of hit television show ‘Deadliest Catch’ and SNP Ambassador, are set to present to 100 members of the Northwest Fisheries Association (NWFA) at their June member meeting on June 13. Cornish and Colburn will share how SNP is making a difference in the health of Americans by helping more people eat seafood.
“As a national non-profit, SNP is addressing the country’s public health crisis through education programs that inspire Americans to incorporate more seafood and omega-3s into their diets,” Cornish said. “Keith and I are excited to present at the NWFA meeting and discuss the importance of eating seafood twice a week for a healthier America.”
SNP recently celebrated its fifth anniversary as an organization and is ramping up to launch a new public health education campaign coinciding with this October’s National Seafood Month. Cornish and Colburn will present on SNP’s impact and showcase the work it’s doing to help people overcome obstacles with eating more seafood and discuss how NWFA members can become involved in the movement.
As an advocate for fisheries and fishermen, Captain Keith has spoken around the United States and abroad about the value of our nation’s fisheries and the health benefits of seafood. Prior to committing his life to fishing Keith was a sous chef in a French seafood restaurant, and is currently working as a safety and health advocate. As an SNP Ambassador, Captain Keith is able to combine knowledge from these occupations to offer a true appreciation and perspective on the health benefits of seafood.
“We are excited to welcome Seafood Nutrition Partnership to the Northwest Fisheries June meeting. We look forward to learning more about what they are doing to build awareness of the essential nutritional and health benefits of eating seafood,” stated Jeb Towne, president of Northwest Fisheries Association.
NWFA currently represents approximately 180 member companies, including primary and secondary seafood processors, seafood brokers and distributors, and direct-support industry members. These businesses, primarily in Washington, Alaska and Canada, produce a wide variety of fish and shellfish products, and distribute them worldwide. NWFA provides an environment in which to network business opportunities and to supply our members with current information on state and federal policy, fish standards and quality control, transportation and tax and environmental issues.
