The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Inc. (JBJS) has entered into formal agreements to acquire the Miller Review Course Parts I and II, along with the remaining interest in the JBJS Virtual Recertification Course, from Miller Orthopaedic Review Enterprises, LLC (MORE). The transaction is expected to close in July 2018.

In its 23rd year, the Miller Review Course Part I is a five-day in-person comprehensive orthopaedic review held in the Denver area each May. Taught by Mark Miller, MD and a distinguished faculty of orthopaedic surgeons from both academic and private practices, the Miller Review Course Part I provides orthopaedic residents with a crucial preparatory step toward board certification and offers a unique opportunity for faculty to share and advance their expertise while building camaraderie among the orthopaedic community. The Miller Review Course Part II was established in 2016 to prepare early-career surgeons for the oral examination, which is typically taken during the third year of orthopaedic practice.

“We are excited to combine the JBJS and Miller Orthopaedic Review brands, two of the most trusted in orthopaedics, to help prepare residents and early-career orthopaedic surgeons for their board certification,” said Paul Sandford, Chief Executive Officer of JBJS. “We intend to leverage our unique learning platforms, marketing reach, and peer-review processes to further enhance the Miller Review Courses’ solid reputation for excellence and comprehensive board exam preparation.”

Mark Miller, MD, Founder and Editor of the Miller Review Courses, will remain involved with the programs in the future. “We are excited that The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery has elected to lead the Miller Review Course into its next era,” said Dr. Miller. “We have enjoyed our partnership with JBJS on the Virtual Recertification Course and look forward to continuing Miller Review I and II under their direction. The Journal brings with it a century of orthopaedic knowledge and prestige, and we are honored that they have assumed this role.”

Registration for the 2019 Miller Review Courses in Westminster, Colorado will open July 1, 2018.
